It’s Chinese New Year and it’s once again, a time for celebration, family and good fortune…I believe we should be celebrating it because in about 50 years, (yes I said it) 50 years we’ll be Chinese in one way or another. You might as well start now.
This is the year of the HORSE. The Chinese is very big on what the year represents, the year meaning of the animal. For example, in this case they are calling for people who was born in the Year of the Horse to lay low this year, because this isn’t the year for them at all. They shouldn’t do things like get married, make investments.
According to Chinese philosophy, those born with the same zodiac sign as the year’s designated animal are going to have a particularly difficult year. The reason for this, Mrs Abbott explains, is the animal is positioned at the top of the zodiac chart, or “on the ruling god’s head”.

Living in the moment, effective communication, emotional intelligence and stress reduction all requires us to be mindful. What exactly is being mindful? How can we be mindful?
“Mindfulness is paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally,” according to Marsha Lucas, Ph.D, psychologist and author of Rewire Your Brain for Love.
There is unlimited information about the steps to become mindful, about the benefit of being mindful. From my experience, becoming mindfulness is not hard if you apply the 5W Rules©: Continue reading

This morning, when I started to work, facing the piles on my desk, I suddenly noticed that I was so distracted. I couldn’t remember what I did yesterday. I couldn’t think of what had been done and what were supposed to be done. I was immobilized, not physically but mentally. It was so strong that I felt fear lurking. What happened to me? After deep breathing in and out for a few minutes, I was able to calm down. It was then that I realized I had been bothered by some stuff in business for months and months. These trivial’s kept clustering in my mind, sucking my time, my focus and my energy. What I had been doing was going over and over again the same pattern of thinking, assuming the worst scenarios, questioning myself for situations out of my control and sabotaging my morale with groundless suspicion. In a word, I became a terrible person. I was at a back-against-the-wall situation. Had I let this distraction go on, I would be done. I want to get out of this situation and rebuild myself. Then I had my breakthrough. I am a positive person with big dreams and goals. I am an optimist and I’m happy by nature. I should enjoy what I have. I realize to really enjoy what we have, we need to “Be in the moment”. Continue reading

While I spend my professional time now as a career success coach, writer, and leadership trainer, I was a marriage and family therapist in my past, and worked for several years with couples, families, and children. Through that experience, I witnessed a very wide array of both functional and dysfunctional parenting behaviors. As a parent myself, I’ve learned that all the wisdom and love in the world doesn’t necessarily protect you from parenting in ways that hold your children back from thriving, gaining independence and becoming the leaders they have the potential to be.
Happy Hump Day! What a morning for me! How was yours? Continue reading
I just had the most amazing weekend and I hope you all did as well.
Sunday evening I had the most amazing conversation with my teenage daughter. We spoke for 2 ½ hours and it was just fantastic. I knew she was bright, but deep, I never really know because I thought all teenagers think and talk about is when the next I-Phone or I-Pad is coming out and who’s doing what and posting what on social sites. Little to my surprise and how wrong my assumption was, my daughter is extremely deep and full of awareness. Though, she’s on the social sites like every other teenager, however, the difference is, she’s not just their playing around, she’s actually paying attention to what is going and what people are doing and saying. How Do We Carry On? HOW does one keep pushing forward?
When all hell is breaking loose around you, how do you pick yourself up and push forward? When the bills are due and no money to pay them, how do you get back up, dust yourself off and keep going? How do you carry on when you’ve lost your job and have no money for the rent? How do you get up and try again and again when life keeps throwing you curve balls after curve balls and keep putting walls and bigger walls in front of you to hurdle? How do we carry on, even though there are excuses for us not to? Continue reading
You pick up the phone.
– “Hello, Mom?” – “Hello! Where are you?” – “I’m home.” – “Are you busy?” – “Not really.” – “What are you doing?” – “????”
Have you ever been in such situation, no matter it’s your family, your friends or your acquaintance? How do you normally respond? Continue reading
